Auto sync on Bluetooth connect not working?

On my old phone (galaxy s10) as soon as Bluetooth was activated on my phone, garmin connect would sync in background, updating weather details etc on my fenix 6x pro.

But since pairing with my new phone (galaxy s21), garmin connect will only sync with my fenix watch if I actually open the app and press the sync button. I can't find any setting to change this back to automatic syncing, have unpaired and re-paired but no luck. Any ideas?

What do you have for these settings?

Allow background activity, allow background data usage, and Allow App while Data saver is on.

Thanks for your quick reply! Background data usage and allow app while data saver on are both enabled. The allow background activity option looks the same. I cannot enable it. See screenshot

That's the setting you want, so you don't want to enable it. Battery optimization is disabled so that Garmin Connect runs in the background.

Hmm. Makes sense. I wonder why the auto sync is not happening then..

got the same problem with my Phoenix 6pro solar, but only last month, before it worked perfect
