Garmin Connect unable to contact Connect IQ store

Dear Garmin community,

I use a Garmin Vivoactive 4 and in the last few weeks whenever I try to go to Apprearance -> Watchfaces to either change the settings or update a watchface I frequently see the error "Unable to contact the Connect IQ Store". However I no problem in connecting via the Connect IQ app.  I am using the Garmin Connect app on an Android phone running Android 11. I have tried to clear data and cache of the app, reinstalled the app but none of these seem to help. I see that several people have had this problem over the years but I couldn't find a solution there. Is anyone else facing the same issue and would someone be able to suggest a solution?
