Venu SQ Music cannot be added as a new device, the App repeatedly shows "Pairing failed".

My Garmin Venu SQ Music stopped syncing to Garmin Connect App about 10 days ago. To try and resolve this issue I uninstalled the application and reinstalled it, as well as removing the device and then attempting to add it as new device. Despite several factory resets as well as using the phone pairing mode on the Venu SQ as described on the Garmin Troubleshooting page, I have had no luck so far. The app seems to find the phone "Venu Sq Music found" and gets stuck in the "completing setup of your Venu Sq Music device" for about 30 seconds, until it always ends up with "pairing failed". The bluetooth connectivity of the phone is not the problem, as I am able to connect to bluetooth headphones and bluetooth speakers.

Has someone else experienced this issue? Does anybody have any suggestions of what to try next?
