Incorrect 9k mile longest run record, breaking sync (Forerunner35)

I finished a run the other day with my Forerunner35 (v3.50). Upon hitting stop and save the Forerunner popped up my records (fastest mile, etc). However, the record it notified me of was a 9559.2 mile longest run! When looking at my run's activity on the Forerunner the distance is the expected 4.0 mile distance. This activity (though present on the watch) will not sync via Bluetooth to Garmin Mobile or via USB to Garmin Express. Any ideas on what happened?

Yes. The activity (fit file) is corrupt and cannot be uploaded to Garmin Connect. This is a very common problem with the Forerunner 35. To see if it is indeed corrupt, try a manual upload to Garmin Connect Web.

How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

    • Connect your Garmin device to your computer with the Garmin USB cable
    • Open the drive associated with your device
    • Look for your FIT file by date under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder
    • Drag and drop the file onto the Garmin Connect Import Data page

    • Click Import Data

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please attach it to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable.

3 ways to get the file to us:

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Zip the file, then drag and drop it onto a reply post.
    • Post a link to the file using a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc.
