Hello,

Why, when the application does not recognize the language of the operating system, does it only use English?

I don't want the application in English, I want it in Spanish (which is one of the supported languages).

An application cannot condition the language of the operating system.

Why in this case are they not letting us choose between one of the languages supported by the application?

    The default behaviour of Android apps is to use the system language (the language used by the phone). This is done automatically by the operating system and the app. The best match between the localized resources and the locale on the phone will be used. If no match is found the app will fallback to the default resources which in this case will be English.

    Are you using Spanish as the language for your phone?

    There are many Android apps that allow you to select the language.

    That Android allows applications to know what the system language is is a functionality at no time does it force you to use that language.

    Obviously, I don't use Spanish as the language on my phone because it's not my mother tongue, but I understand Spanish a lot better than English and I don't want Garmin to decide which language to use for me.

    Garmin allows you to select the language in his web application and on all devices, why is Android different?

    Of course there are Android apps that uses different ways of handling languages. I only told you how it works per default which is the answer to your first question.

    If you like to use another way of handling languages you must explicitly build that into the app to support the non-default behaviour.
