Lost steps

Question

When I reached 13,00 steps my garmin went back to about 8,000. Why did this happen and is there any way to get back the steps? I am in a step challenge at wrok.

It sounds like your watch may have crashed. Did you happen to notice a wayward vibration or a triangle on the watch face at a weird time? If so, the steps are probably lost forever. Take a look at the page of steps per hour. 
 If the steps appear there and it's just the total for the day is wrong, Garmin might be able to help you as only they can do a correction and they only do it sparingly.
