Garmin Connect on Android, and Garmin 245 wrist watch.
I'm doing a steps challenge with a friend, but somehow he is able to sync in the Garmin Connect app, without actually syncing any steps. So for example on an evening, I go out at 5pm, walk all night and clock up 25k steps. My friend is showing as being fully synced at 2100, and when I return home at about 2130 and sync, I'm 25k steps ahead. Next thing I know at 2230, my friend suddenly resyncs and is 3k steps ahead of me, having seemingly done 28k steps in 1.5 hours.
Sometimes, due to the fact that the app lets you sync steps for the previous day up to 12 noon, he has waited until the following day, and synced 30k steps in the morning at 8am, and then on the evening at 2315 synced a further 28k steps -- 58k steps in a single day.
Because Garmin Connect is showing him as synced, but is not showing his step data until he chooses to, this is putting me at a total disadvantage. And I've encouraged him to play fairly but he's continuing to do this week after week.
So any idea how he's able to do this? We're both using the same equipment. (Caveat: He also has an old garmin watch, I do wonder if he's giving this to his partner, and having her wear it, then when she returns home on an evening is syncing her steps to the same challenge under the same account? So is that possible, if he has two Garmin devices then he could use one to do no steps and sync with the app to make it look like he was up to date, meanwhile he's using the other with bluetooth switched off and at the last moment synchronises his steps from the other device?)
Thanks.
