Activity edits not syncing to watch

Hi All,

Just tracked a workout using my new Fenix 6.

As I didn't record the workout properly on the go, and the watch didn't predict the excersise accurately, I have edited the strength activity in Garmin Connect.

Unfortuantely though, the edited activity does not sync to my watch. So now I have an updated recording in Garmin Connect, and an inaccurate recording on my watch.

Is there a way to update / sync the updated activity to the watch?

Seems silly this is not automatic...

Cheers,

Alex

  • Activity edits are not supposed to sync back to the device. The only way you could achieve it is using a tool for editing FIT files, and replacing the activity FIT file on the watch, with an edited one. However, I do not quite see the point of it. You should be deleting old activities from the watch anyway (and on some devices it happens automatically if you don't) - it is the server storage of Garmin Connect that is designed to keep the history, not the watch.

  • Appreciate the response Trux.

Whilst you mention activity edits are not supposed to sync back to the device, they should - I want access on the go and I don't want two versions of the one activity.

I understand the concept of deleting old activities, but this is a new activity - users shouldn't need to delete new activities off their devices.

Seems like an oversight and easy fix given how impressive the software is otherwise.

  • Note that the activities on the watch are removed when new are added so you will only see the most recent of your activities on the watch.

They are not supposed to sync back even if you think they should. You will have to send a request to Garmin to add this function if you need it: https://www.garmin.com/forms/ideas/

If you like to access the activities on the go you can use the app. The data on the watch is very limited compared to what you get in the app and in the app you will see all your activiities, not just the recent.

  • Thanks! Looks like I can access activities right back to the start of the year on my device (albeit I haven't recorded many). So having this functionality would be handy.

I have sent a request through - seems like a simple solution.

I don't always have my phone with me. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying a watch that does everything so you don't need to cart your smart phone around on runs and workouts.
