Deep Sleep and partner disturbance

I decided to conduct an experiment with my vivoactive 4s.

I was concerned about the lack of deep sleep I was getting.

I decided to wear my watch on my right wrist instead of my left wrist when sleeping. I had a funny feeling maybe my watch was picking up my partners movements during sleep. He sleeps on the left of me,

I have been doing this for the last three nights and more deep sleep has been recorded on those nights.

I wonder if partner disturbance does affect the recording of deep sleep?

Well, on the daily graph you can turn on the movement data, and compare the days with the watch on the left and on the right hand. However, even if there were differences, it does not necessarily have to come from your partner. It could also come from the way one of you arm moves more than the other when you sleep. If you sleep on the side, it is rare to be sleeping the same time on both sides, so if you tend to sleep more on the right side, the right hand would be more restricted.

However, the moving is only one of the factors used at the sleep analysis. The main factor is the HR Variability.

  • Further to my previous post.

My partner was away last night and did not sleep in bed with me and my deep sleep was significantly higher. So I'm still wondering whether the garmin device is picking up my partners movements. He is a restless sleeper so he so maybe he could be interrupting my sleep too??? Just wondering.
