Activity hasn't synced with Garmin Connect

Hi all.

Had a bit of trouble with one of my runs today (it's my longest run so far, so would like to get it sorted!) After I completed the run, I pressed save etc and it showed me it saved but it didn't sync with Garmin connect or Strava, when it got within range to my phone. The run is there on my watch, but when I press it it shows no data, only a 'delete' option, so I assume the file has corrupted somehow. This has happened before on a 10k of mine, and I tried looking at it with a Fit File Repair Tool, but to be honest, I don't know what I am looking at/for! I tried syncing with Garmin Express, but to no avail.

Is anyone able to help me or point me in the right direction please? I really would like to look at it in Strava!

Watch is a Vivoactive 3.

    To verify that the file is corrupt, try a manual upload Garmin Connect Web

    How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

    • With your Garmin device connected to your computer
    • Open the drive associated with your device.
    • Look for your FIT file under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder  
    • Drag and drop the file on to the [Garmin Connect Import Data page] 

           

    If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please attach it to this thread.

    In a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> Upload >> browse for file >> OK. Or drag and drop it onto a reply post. Alternatively, post a link to the file using a file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

    Meanwhile, you should try FIT File Tools section remover. Run it through that without any changes. This fixes many issues.

    2021-03-14-10-47-08.zipHey! Thanks for the reply, I have just tried with the section remover and it only seemed to record 7k. I have attached the file, and a pic showing the watch data. If you could have a look that would be great, by I fear the watch has corrupted something during the run

    Using Fit File Repair Tool. I also see only 7 km

    2021-03-14-10-47-08-fixed.fit

    Seems to be some corruption before the first time stamp

    Maybe someone with experience beyond Fit File Repair Tool can assist in case I'm missing anything.

    Some tips to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

    • Keep the number of files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system to a minimum using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device If you delete the files in your activity folder with a Mac computer, then empty the trash folder before you unplug your device from the computer.
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
    • If issues with corrupt files persist, contact Garmin Support.

    The Last Record  is @ 7 Km  and the File is 32K  so it's unrecoverable.

    If you can find a bigger file in the watch maybe more will be recoverable.

    Thanks for looking it to for me. Gutted though Tired face

    Not sure why this has happened twice, I only have 6 runs max at anytime. and over half the storage space still available. Maybe its time to look for a different watch.

    Appreciate the help guys, good to know there is a helpful community if I have any other issues!

    I would remove all files from \GARMIN\ACTIVITY, regardless of storage space.

    What I do on "Important Activities" Like Races is also record on Strava App as a Backup.

    You could try to restore defaults and start from scratch before giving up with the watch.
