Garmin Forerunner 35 and Strava showing incorrect data

Garmin Forerunner 35 showing correct distance after a run but missing parts on the route map. Then once sync'd to Strava it had missed the distance off the data AND map. 5.05k became 3.54k (it missed the first 1.5k off the start)  It must have connected to GPS to recognise the distance on Garmin. This happens on both my daughters watches bought for Christmas 2020. Please help

  • You probably started your run before the watch got a GPS fix. This is why part of the track is missing and that is why strava shows a shorter distance.

It must have connected to GPS to recognise the distance on Garmin.

Actually, the Forerunner 35 can estimate distance without GPS, based on accelerometer data.
