Body Battery not increasing

My Body Battery seems doesn't seem to be working correctly.  Although how it actually calculates is a bit out a mystery.

I'm getting 8 hours plus sleep, including 1.5 -2 hours REM. And at least the same in deep sleep.  My stress level is anywhere from 35-48 for the last few weeks.  Yesterday I traveled by car 4 hours but application tracked my at high stress?????56

My body Battery for the last week has pretty much stayed flat.  Little to no increase at night.

Any idea why?  Any one else seen this happen?

  • You need to be at rest for the body battery to recharge. The stress score needs to be lower than 25.

Why the watch measures stress is the question. If you fix that the body battery will recharge.

I would start by comparing the days with stress at night with the days with no stress at night. What is the difference between those days? Have you changed anything in your life? Coffee, smoking, alcohol, pace maker, medication...?

  • Yesterday I traveled by car 4 hours but application tracked my at high stress?????

Why does it surprise you? Driving typically indeed is a quite stressfull activity.

What are the stress levels during the sleep?

    Any idea why?

It is simple - the Body Battery recharges at blue levels of stress (resting level), and discharges at yellow levels.

Any one else seen this happen?

Certainly. Anyone who does not have sufficiently long periods of rest during the day and night.

Also, in some cases (for example after a firmware update), the HRM may be malfucntioning due to some registers in undefined state. Restarting the watch then helps resetting it. The HRM may also supply incorrect data if not worn correctly, with inadequate tightness (too loose, ot too tight), or in case of health issues (pacemaker, peripheral vasoconstriction, sleep apnoea, cold weather,...).

  • The body battery function has to be faulty. No matter how much rest and sleep it notoriously fails to recharge. I spent months thinking it was me. It's not feasible. It's the device. I have even tried hard a reboot. I suspect it is the result of an upgrade. Stop blaming the customer. We are not stupid. Other devices are feeling more attractive....

  • Thank you!  My body batter worked correctly for years.  I got a new device and It was working fine for a few weeks. Then after an update it no longer charges my body battery past 25 or 26 points. It's registering high stress until about 4:00 a.m. . Nothing has changed on my end. But they treat you like idiots when you ask the question.

  • I am a systems analyst. It's a bug. Fix it!

  • Most days mine also records nothing until 4 a.m. and then reaches the mid 20's. If I get up at 1 or 2 a.m. for a couple of minutes, the body battery may start recording & may reach the 50s or 60s. When I got the device a couple years ago a body battery recording in the 80s or 90s was not unusual but now rarely happens.

Step Count is still accurate, GPS is reasonably accurate, heart rate, activities and other functions seem pretty accurate. Device is, overall, still way better and more durable than the 3 Fitbits I went through in 15 months.

The basics are good, body battery & pulse ox are wrong. That's about the size of it. After reading comments on both today, I'm giving up & taking both off my watch. Plus ought to help with power consumption.

  • Mine hasn’t been over 20 since July.  I’ve been at 5 all week.  I slept 8 hours and now I’m at 6.  This is ridiculous.

  • What does your 1 day body battery graph look like? It will probably explain why you don't recharge. If you got much stress measured during sleep you will not recharge.

    Examples.

This is the sleep from after a night out. Stress during the first hours of sleep that makes the recharge go very slowly. Still not very high stress so it recharges a little. Alcohol is not good for the body battery. It can be a lot worse. I got home pretty early that night after only 3 beers.

Normal night. All blue during sleep which makes the body battery recharge rapidly.

  • I think that's the problem.  The stress isn't accurately reporting in my opinion. Which impacts the body battery. No matter what else happens the body battery doesn't pick up rest until 4:00 a.m. . Others have said the same. My stress made a distinct increase in December. And it has stayed there. That's about when my body battery went from increasing by 50 to 60 points to increasing only 20 to 25.

  • Something might have changed in your body or life in December/January that caused it. I would look into other values during that period of time and see if something else changed like resting heart rate, sleep habits etc.
