What is the best activity option to track Versaclimber workout in the Fenix 5s plus?

Does someone knows what is the best activity option to track a versaclimber workout in fenix 5s plus?

I feel like using cardio only is not accurate.

  • I feel like using cardio only is not accurate.

Accurate for what? If you mean for Calories, then the type of the activty you choose has absolutely no influence on it. The calculation of Calories is based exclusively on your HR, the HR Variability, and the personal data (age, gender, weight, height, and the Ativity Class).

  • I use a Treadmill activity and manually insert ascent.  [and rename activity] It is sad Garmin does not support use of this extreme fitness device I have used as my mainstay for a decade or more.  I would guess unless they had a monetary deal with the HeartRate, Inc folks, this is not likely to change.  My machine is old and is not updatable to their current Bluetooth enabled electronics.  However I am old as well and just adapt.

using treadmill gives you steps, pace, and several ergonomic values that can be helpful in analyzing and improving/optimizing your workout.

  • As an update for strength workouts I’ll do slow climb with max resistance for 10-20 minutes under the STEP exercise at the start of the strength workout.  It does seem to register steps taken pretty well, but won’t translate to floors climbed.

for treadmill workouts I manually adjust my stride length to reflect my real stride on a flat surface at a certain pace to give a reasonable result for “distance run” - my medical issues don’t allow real runs or even real treadmills due to effects of impact, but swimming and bike runs are great, so it remains my main recording device despite my frustrations with lack of coherence with Versa Climber.

overall the Garmin gives me decent information on fitness, aerobic/anaerobic effects; very frustrating the ascent does not translate/register in their new expeditions. It’s been great coach as I work on weight loss and strength/endurance/aerobic fitness.  Only a few pounds from goal I set 6 months ago, Resting HR from 62 to 50, and still motivated.
