The point is why advertise a product as 'app compatible'
That's because the HRM Dual and HRM Pro have also Bluetooth connectivity, and not only ANT+ like all other Garmin HRMs, and…
I don't want a garmin 'device'.
That is not the point.

It's full-on *** move behaviour
Just install any app for BT HRMs, or have the HRM Dual replaced for HRM Pro, or ask for a refund. It is not Garmin's fault that you do not read the full…
Anyone? I'm on an iPhone and have so far tried with Strava, Zwift and Wahoo, neither of which can connect to the HRM Dual (or the others either). My phone can connect to them via Bluetooth, but no app can register their data. So...any suggestions to which apps they are actually compatible with?
Hi trux
Do you have an HRM Dual that you are using with an app through Bluetooth? I have tried Zwift, Strava and Wahoo and neither can read the Dual's data, though the phone has connected to it. So if you have info on an app that works that would be awesome! :-)

Sorry, I do not own the HRM-Dual, but a quick search in Google shows that you can use for example the Wahoo app. And if your phone is ANT enabled, you can even use the Garmin Fit app. And an [article on DCrainmaker] claims to be using the HRM-Dual on Apple TV with Zwift. The article lists also a number of diverse apps and devices able to read from HRM-Dual. There are certainly countless of other possibilities as well, since the HRM can connect to practically any device, both over ANT+ and over Bluetooth.
Let’s get straight to the point: Name me an iPhone standalone application without registering in an account that I can connect via Bluetooth to my hrm-dual.
Thank you
You can use Strava to read your heart rate from an HRM dual. You have to register for an account, but it is free. I spent several aggravating hours trying to find a way to read my newly bought HRM dual. The average person will assume that they can use Garmin connect to read it, and will be outraged when they find out that they cannot. I expressed my aggravation in a previous post that was taken down for being "abusive".

Thank you for your contribution to the Garmin Forums.
2023 and the HRM Dual still does not connect to the Garmin connect App. How is this possible when it connects to strava & Zwift.
I bought this for the wife xmas present. I own the pro+ which is great. I assumed the Dual would have few less functions and not water proof, but not connecting to own app is very disappointing.

It was not designed for. Only HRM-Pro and HRM-Pro Plus pair with Garmin Connect. It is better checking the specifications before the purchase, but if you purchased it recently, it will not be a problem to exchange the strap, if you really need that feature for some reason. Frankly told, I practically never use the direct connection of my HRM-Pro to Garmin Connect, except of occasional firmware updates. Not sure what exactly you expect from the direct connection, but just be aware that it does not offer much.
