Calories on RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate)

Okay, so today I was bored and I decided to check out my calories burned in the last few days.

What I discovered is that my resting calories have been bugged since 23rd of January.

Before that it was always 1962 kcal, which seemed a little overestimated, however close to the right amount that I get while using any of the calculators online (1600-1700 kcal).

The crazy thing is that since 23rd what I get is 9444 kcal, like how that's even possible? Is anyone having the same issue?

Here are some pictures:

  • Unfortunately the external links to the images do not work for me. Could you insert the images directly (use the function Insert » File/video/Image and click/tap the grey Upload to select the file on your computer or phone). You can also simply paste the image directly into the message body too.

  • Oh, I guess that's an easier way to put images in here, thanks for the instructions ;)

I hope now you and everyone else will be able to see them. The picture from Jan 29 shows that halfway through the day my Resting Calories are already at 4k.

  • OK, the last screen was important, but it looks all right. There is a possibility though that the settings somehow did not propagate to the watch (the Calories are calculated by the CPU of the watch), and that they differ there. Please verify all those personal settings in the User Profile directly on your watch. If they are all right, try powering down the device, and turning it back on, syncing, and then verifying the personal settings again, to see if they still persist.

  • Well, changing it on the watch fixed the issue, now the Resting Calories are totally correct (around 1,7k).

What I had on my watch was 682kg not the 68,2kg o_O

I guess it was my honest mistake, thank you very much kind Sir! :)

  • Well, it can happen easily. What surprises me more, is the fact that the change did not propagate from the watch to Garmin Connect, or vice versa (depending where you did the change the last time). That should definitely happen automatically as soon as you sync. There may be another problem - like for example having the account associated with muluple accounts. If you experience any data missing after the sync, have a look at the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing
