There may be several reasons - failed sync, broken monitoring FIT file, multiple accounts associated with you device, network outage,...
The best way to assure the steps were counted, is by tapping the sync symbol up right on the GC Mobile app screen, and then verifying whether the steps were really recorded on the cloud (and not only on the phone). Check it out either on GC Web, or on the Steps Daily Totals screen of the app (accessible after tapping the chart symbol up right on the Steps pane on the My Day screen). If the right count is not there, it means the sync to the cloud failed for some of the above mentioned reasons, and you better try syncing again. Of course, doing it before midnight is the way to go,
