Connect App crashing Huawei P30 lite

Hi all,

I have bought the vivoactive 4 and want to pair it with my Huawai p30 lite of less than a year old. All goes well, but after login and pairing it crashes. It is flashing (walking man keeps blinking) and giving the error "an unexpected error occurs"

I googled and browsed the forum here and tried everything I found:

Remove an reinstall app, clear cache, new profile, restart watch, restart phone, repair, give all permissions to access phone, ... Same error remains.

I called the Gramin helpdesk, they basically told me to wait for an app upgrade that is done on 'regular basis' that might help but not guaranteed or just buy a new cellphone, preferably not Huawei. Quite arrogant answer if you ask me. 

Last cry for help here if anyone has same problem and found a solution, otherwise will have to return the watch.
