Extra phantom steps

Because I drive all day I end up getting hundreds, sometimes thousands, of extra steps recorded. I'm sure it's the vibration of the truck but I can't really combat that. Is there any way to delete the steps, or set something so it knows I'm not walking?

  • Depending on the watch model you own, you can start for example the Indoor Cycling activity when driving, and discarding it, when you stop. On most watches, steps are not counted while a Cycling or Swimming activity is on. And using the indoor cycling prevents draining the battery with GPS. There is also a Driving activity, but I am not sure on which Garmin models you can find it.

There is a driving option I believe. It is the Instinct. I will give that a try tomorrow and see if it works. I just learned today how to initiate activities. First few days are always fun learning with new devices.

I am afraid it will be a bit longer with Instinct. I have it almost two years, and still discovering new things.
