Challenge miles not saved

Thanks for replying. 

I also figured this out having looked at a few other threads. And have been making sure to log my walks each day as activities so that it keeps track of them in my challenge. I also reactivated my auto-start after one threat had recommended that it was turned off, this then picked up a walk that I hadn't set up so it all seems to be working now. 

It would have been helpful it it was first explained that to complete this challenge then you need to record the walks as an activity. As I hadn't done this before but it's ok now, I got there in the end.

I recommend that this be fixed

It does not really need to be fixed, since it is supposed to work in that way. Only distances from Activities recorded by a Garmin device count toward Badges and toward Badge Challenges. Read more about the conditions in the official document: Garmin Connect Badge Achievements

Are there any additional requirements that I should know about to earn a badge? 

Note the following stipulations:

Manually created activities will not earn badges

Activity must be recorded using a Garmin device

Activity must be recorded on or after the release of a badge

Garmin device must have activity profile type needed to earn badge

Outdoor race badges require activity to be recorded using GPS

Available badges are subject to change occasionally including specialty badges that may only be available for a limited time

Activity Challenges must be joined prior to performing the activity to earn the badge

Challenge Badge activities must be performed on a Garmin device and uploaded directly to Garmin Connect or the Garmin Connect App

Some repeatable badges have a limit on the number of times it can be earned by an individual
