Tracking sleep

Im very active and surprisingly i didnt want a smart watch to track my that but to track my sleep. I work very odd hours and never know how long i actually slept especially on my days off because i try to acclimate myself to a normal sleep schedule on those days. Does the watch track/ recognize sleep even though its out of the sleep schedule you set on the app?

  • It is hard to predict how the watch (which one? - you did not specify) will cope with your irregular sleeping pattern. Generally, garmin watches aren't that good at tracking irregular sleep.

  • Vivoactive 4.

  • What usually helps, is setting the Sleep Hours in your User Settings so, that the period covers the whole day. For example from 0:01 to 23:59. Please note, that you cannot use the automatic Do Not Disturb mode during Sleep Hours, becuase it would be then enabed all the time. You have to activate/deativate it manually, if needed.

  • I have a 4S.  According to the documentation, it will only track sleep during your specified sleep hours, so you probably need to do as trux suggests.  I find the accuracy of the sleep information to be very poor.  It often says I am awake when I am not, or asleep when I am not.  This probably varies a lot from person to person.  Good luck.

  • I have an Instinct. Even though I have the sleep times set for my normal sleep patterns during the work week, it shows the times when I go to sleep or wake up outside of that time range.

There are times I've noticed that I was awake briefly (even during sleep scheduled time) and it was not tracked as being awake.  I might not have moved around enough for the watch to react like I was awake at that point.
