I found numerous references to requests of using additional activity types in gear choice, reporting etc. Has Garmin ever given an official answer to why they have not prioritized these enhancements? I didn't find anything reviewing several entries.
At minimum it would be useful to differentiate between mountain and road biking or even allow more category creation, when filtering viewing/reporting on activities. Allowing assigning gear by type also seems a no brainer.
Changes like this woukd make the software much friendly for common use cases
