Why did my watch tell me I walked over 10k steps but the next day the app shows I was 4 steps short?

I walked about 10050 steps yesterday on both my watch and the app which I synced after to make sure to keep my 10k streak alive.  This morning I wake up and the app shows I was 4 steps short of the 10k. Why did it show over 10k the night before then reduce the total steps?

  • Probably the last sync from the watch to the app, or from the app to the server failed. It is always safer verifying before midnight, whether the steps synced competely to the server. You can see it when you check your daily steps on Garmin Connect Web. If the sync failed, you can then repeat it. If you notice it only after midnight, but still before the next UTC midnight, you can try setting manually the time on your watch a few hours back, so that it still reports to the previous day, and sync again. There was a user who reported a successfull fix of the step number for the previous day in this way. The prevention, by verifying the count before the midnight is safer though.
