Is there a way to silence specific text message conversations?

I enjoy getting text message notifications/vibrations on my watch but have the one issue that I've got a few VERY large sometimes very active text message groups. When these start going off you can get hundreds of messages going in an hour or two. As such on my phone, I have "silenced" them and don't get a notification sound or banner but they just move up to the most recent messages. But on my connected watch I'm getting vibrations for every single message and it's driving me crazy!

  • If you are using an android device and use the Google Messages app as your primary messaging source you are able to mark the conversation as "not a conversation" in the group details section of that specific conversation and it blocks the notification settings for just that message - no notifications come out of this conversation anymore and this still allows for other messages or conversations to act normally!  I just realized this today to snooze a couple of ongoing group chats that do not require specific attention but can be rather annoying at inopportune times.  Good luck!

  • This worked a charm! Thank you! Marking it as 'not a conversation' did the trick! Not sure what other ramifications may result from this but it appears to work as expected albeit with an odd name, so we'll see. Either way, thank you very much ChainsawLeg for this post!! :-)

  • thank you.  Sooo much.

I was literally 5 minutes from quitting my kids' PTA before reading this answer.

    Bless you.  Truly.
