Stuck on 'Sending software update'

Question from Forerunner 945 user: In Garmin Connect Mobile sync status the progress bar is half way with 'Sending software update' since yesterday morning. The device reported "Software updated to 5.50" this morning, but GCM keeps trying to push the same update (5.50 is the latest version)

In Connect Web the device has 'software update available' but if you click on that, it says 'software is up to date'.

How can you get rid of that? Things already tried: reinstalling GCM, re-pairing device, restarting phone + device.

Seems like the update download is still queued, but can't continue. Does deleting/re-creating the Garmin account or factory resetting the 945 work?

  • In this case it was a map update, and the only way is to use Garmin Express to update them. Not great that it can't complete at all via GCM on the phone. The progress bar never moved in 48 hours.

  • Would that have been the Time Zone Map update? I've had these hang at random on various devices in the past.

    As far as I can tell for the devices I have (Forerunner 735XT, Fenis 5 Plus, Edge 820, Edge 1030 Plus) the Time Zone Map is the only one that can be updated via Garmin Connect Mobile. All other map updates require Garmin Express.
