Heart Rate Zones reporting wrong value in App recently.

I have noticed that the connect app mobile after a workout is reporting the wrong heart rate limits in the heart rate zones area. Example my max heart rate is 165 the app has me in zone 5 setting of 107 bpm and above. Watch setting in heart rate zones is set for max heart rate 165 and set to default for zones. It had been working fine, but just noticed this week that it is reporting wrong akk 5 zones wrong when working out, all but a few seconds are in the 5 zone. Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Could you post screenshots from Garmin Connect Web showing the HR Zone in a sample Activity, and the HR Zone settings in Device Settings » User Settings?

  • Thanks Trux for looking at this. Want to also note that in the settings screen on the mobile app there is not an area to adjust heart rate zones, on my wifes connect app for her garmin watch in her settings she has this feature. Here is the screen shots of what I have.

  • The connect web shows correctly, so I am thinking its in the mobile portion of Garmin Connect that is not working properly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the watch.

  • The connect web shows correctly

Then post a screenshot of the settings there, so that we can see it there is any discrepancy. It does not matter whether you set up the HR Zones on the web or in the app (as long as you are logged into the same account and sync the watch/app afterwards).

The screenshots of User Settings from the GCM app are the wrong ones - you posted screenshots of the general User Settings, while the HR Zones are defined in the Device Settings » User Settings (you have to tap the icon of the watch at the top of the app to enter the Device Settings)

  • OK, in that case please post the screenshot from GC Web, as demanded. Also verify the HR Zones directly on the watch, and make sure you check both Running and Cycling HRZ profiles (or the adequate HRZ profile if you use just one type of the activities).

My guess is that you have only one of the profiles set correctly, while the other one has a wrong setting. And that's exactly why I am asking you for the 3rd time to post a screenshot of the HRZ setting in GC Web, because I could see it there instantly.

  • I have had the same issue. My user setting and my report are not the same. Here are my setting and report.  Truly appreciated if your could help diagnosed the problem. I'm using Fenix 5, by the way.

  • Does the second screenshot come from a Runnig, or from a Cycling activity? Or is it of yet another type?

  • Just upgraded to the 955 from a Fenix 5 and having never had this problem with the old watch. HR Zones in Garmin app are set correctly but they are completely disregarded when reporting on a workout.

above are screen grabs from the most recent workout (a run). Bizarrely, zone one is showing the highest bpm even though it still doesn’t represent anything like the parameters

  • it still doesn’t represent anything like the parameters

Your default HR Zones are based on %HRR. What was your HR Reserve on given day? It may change every day significantly, especially if the Resting HR was not well recorded, for example because you did not wear the watch during the sleep, or during the periods of deep rest. You also need to activate the auto-detection of HR max, for it to work correctly.

I would either use %LHTR and conduct the Guided Lactate Threshold Test (best choice), or simply use the fixed HR values (not the best way, but it will not change).
