Fenix5/Quatix GPS doubled the distance

Hi!

Today I took a 15 km hike, with my Quatix on, set to hiking program as always. At the end of the hike I was surprised as the distance was almost exactly doubled! And the trace on Connect's map was totally crazy though in line with actual trail I took, but zig-zagged.

Any clue what happend?

Yes, Ultra Trac will definitely result in this behaviour - it turns on the GPS only once per minute, and before the device has the chance to acquire all available GPS satellites for the best accuracy, it…

Probably bad GSP signal due to obstacles like dense vegetation, steep mountain slopes. etc.

You think so? It was in mountains indeed, some not very dense vegetation too.. But i hiked with this watch many times in similar conditions and first time such bug appeared.

Could be also due to an expired EPO file. Check it out in the watch Menu » Settings » About

Expired EPO on a Garmin Outdoor Watch

You can also try enabling the option GPS + Galileo, if you use GPS only. There will be more satellites available for the calculation of the position.

EPO was up to date. While I was trying after your advice to turn on Galileo, I noticed that my Ultra Trac mode was on. I bet it is the reason. I've never use it so probably my kid changed that setting :))
