Intensity minutes disappeared

Hey,

My intensity minutes feature suddenly disappeared from both my watch and from my Garmin connect app my day page. On both the watch and the app, intensity minutes are on and should be displayed. I have tried shutting and reopening both my watch and my phone without success,

Any ideas?

  • Yes, that's OK too. Well, you could try installing it on another phone you can get hold of, just to see if it remains the same. Other than that, I have no more suggestions, exept recommending you to call the Customer Support of Garmin and trying to find the culprit with their help.

  • I have noticed that many of my tabs only appear if there's data for the field.  Intensity Minutes is a weekly cumulative field, beginning with Monday.  If you didn't do anything on Monday that generated an Intensify Minute, the tab may not appear.

Garmin's measurement of Intensity Minutes has to do with activities that elevate the heart rate, which is actually the definition of intensity minutes.  If the other devices don't measure heart rate, they're just guessing at whether or not you've gained an intensity minute.  Sometimes the guesses are good; other times not so much.  (I noticed the Fit app on my Android phone thought a lot of my walks also generated intensity minutes which my Forerunner ignored.)

  • Yes, I will do so. Thank you!

  • I have noticed that many of my tabs only appear if there's data for the field.

That's exactly why my first question was, whether some data for that day/week is visible in Garmin Connect Web, and verified that it is the same account Slight smile

  • I have contacted the Garmin support and apparently there was an update and indeed the tabs will appear only when there is data to show. To test if it is only that, I have lowered the ranges of heart rates and will test it if they do appear.

  • There seem to be some horribly complicated and detailed replies here...none of which answered this problem for me (or I got tired of scrolling through them and gave up)... Here is a simple answer, which MAY work for some folk with this issue, IF IT IS JUST A DISPLAY ISSUE. At the end of my training session, I inadvertently swiped the Intensity Minutes card (left or right) on Garmin Connect, when I picked up my smartphone from the treadmill...this resulted in a prompt asking me whether I wanted to permanently Hide the Intensity Minutes card. I compounded my swipe error by touching the Hide permanently button, rather than the Undo button, and the Intensity Minutes card disappeared "for good" OR SO I THOUGHT. Unfortunately, I don't have hours or days to plough through the Help manual, but STUMBLED ACROSS THIS FIX, when desperately stabbing my fat finger at my smartphone screen... STEP 1...Open Garmin Connect on Smartphone STEP 2 Scroll ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM to Edit My Day STEP 3 Touch Edit My Day. STEP 4 EITHER (if shown) choose the option to REINSTATE CARDS DISMISSSED TODAY (the Intensity Minutes one in my case) OR scroll down to the bottom, where I found that the Intensity Minutes Card was on the Hidden list... Press the + sign against the Hidden Intensity Minutes card and HEY PRESTO, it reappeared on my Day view as normal, but at the bottom instead of where I normally saw it. So I went BACK into Edit My Day and went to the list of displayed cards and "grabbed the handle - the red lines to the right - of the Intensity Minutes card and SLID IT UPWARDS to the normal place in the order of cards I want to see... On going back to the normal Daily View, everything was back to normal and Intensity Minutes back in their rightful place, NO DATA LOST! .....   :-D

That's surprising, because right the very first reply in this thread gave the hint for exactly your problem (which is different to the problem of the author of the OP) Slight smile

The very first reply was: "Scroll down, tap Edit My Day at the bottom, and verify whether Intensity Minutes are enabled." and it was answered negatively.

  • Hi trux...you are quite right..This is a classic case of me not seeing the wood for the trees! And also the extraordinary Connect functionality and many forum threads on this subject "confusing a stupid person" (in the words of Pete & Dud's Art Gallery sketch), I had briefly and unsuccessfully stumbled around the manual (though I don't find the search functionality that helpful and gave up on that quickly), then scanned MANY threads on this subject, many of which talked about Intensity Minutes not working correctly, rather than simply being a Display issue. I even tried YouTube, By the time I found this thread (in which your answer appears), I was already drowning & losing the will to live. The first answer (yours) DOES specifically mention "Edit My Day" to check if Intensity Minute ENABLED. But I knew I hadn't DISABLED Intensity Minutes and (as a relative novice to Garmin Connect) I foolishly dismissed your answer as yet another irrelevant one. From variousPeach other threads, I had looked at many other suggested fixes, in other parts of the Connect app menus, so was looking for a form of words (e.g. Hidden, rather than Enabled/Disabled), which would immediately seem like a genuine lifebelt. Once I discovered Edit My Day (for myself) at the very bottom of the Day view (which you had already mentioned, but I had wrongly ignored), I did, at last, see the wood for the trees. I don't think I had ever scrolled down the Day view that far before, so had wrongly assumed the view finished with the 7 Day summary. The various use of the words Tab, Widgets, Cards and more also conspires to confuse. Unlike your very crisp answer, my ramblings are anything but... I think if your post had started with..."You may have just accidentally Hidden Intensity Minutes from displaying in your Daily Connect view, so try this...etc", I would more likely have thought trux has the answer I need. I do now really appreciate the help you offered.

  • I THINK this may FINALLY have gotten fixed, but I haven’t been exercising for several weeks due to knee issues. However, I see you can now “assign” Moderate & Vigorous IM levels now to HR zones, which I don’t recall having been able to do before. And based on just a couple of days, this seems to be working. (But then again, my IM were working fine for a long time before they failed, so time will tell.) Under Settings, for your device, open that menu (>) , then open Activity Tracking, and look for ‘Weekly Intensity Minutes’.  Your HR zones are back under User Settings.
