total time vs elapsed time

Hello,

I am tracking with my 935 all my workouts. There is something I still don't understand: the difference between total time vs elapsed time.

That means I go for a 20 mins run, press start, I pause (not using the auto pause) for 5 mins, I end the run. Total time = 25 mins, moving time = 20 mins.

But the elapsed time is always higher than the total time... why?

Thanks,

Rafael.

  • Elapsed time is a difference between the time of day of the start and time of day of the end of activity.

    Example:

You start the activity at 10:30 am.

You run for 5 minutes, then you pause the timer.

You keep the timer paused for 10 minutes, then you restart the activity.

You run for another 5 minutes, then you end the activity (at 10:50 am).

In this example total time will be 10 minutes, elapsed time will be 20 minutes.

In other words, total time only counts time when the activity was running, and elapsed time counts ALL the time between starting the activity and finally stopping it, inlcuding non-moving time, and paused time.

  • Thank you. This was making my brain hurt in other forums!
