Apple has this cool feature to add step counts

Garmin, I'm a first time user for any smart watch. Personally, I enjoy the Vivosmart 4 because of comfort and convenience. I hate anything on my wrist thats too bulky or heavy or uncomfortable. That says a lot. What I want to give feedback on is the Walk / Step feature for the Garmin Connect. If you or anyone you know has a Apple iPhone, there is an Apple Health app (lol I'm sure you know), and its pretty easy to use. On that app's initial summary page, you can go to your Steps and magically Add Data (Date, Time, Steps - done!) wow wasn't that easy? I really wish the Garmin Connect would allow some simplicity and not go through this crazy process of entering manually activity - I don't want to spend 10 minutes or longer trying to figure or do all this uploading data files or whatever - thats so silly! I just want a watch that captures my activity OR allows me to quickly edit already existing data. I highly recommend you take some soft pointers from the Apple Health app - not copy them - but allow simplicity for your users. Maybe include this in your app and you might reduce some of your complaints (especially when the auto step randomly resets information after a long walk, run, etc.)! Just a thought! Thanks!

  • Steps are not modifiable completely intentionally - Garmin is bound contractually with multiple insurance agencies and with big corporations who often use the Step counts for the calculation of diverse health benefits, and hence Garmin cannot allow any easy tricking of the system. It is unlikely Garmin would ever allow adding steps manually, or at least not in the way the manually added steps would add to the totals measured by the device.
