Forerunner 35 and Garmin app not talking any more.

I used Live Track for the first time this morning (10/31) as I was doing a virtual 10k. When I was done, I can't sync my Forerunner 35 with the Garmin app. It shows my step count before I started (327) and not after (over 17,000) and doesn't show me the route map. The app not synchronizing also means that my Noom account isn't getting the step count, either. I've tried de-installing and re-installing the app, turning bluetooth off and on again, and synchronizing starting from the 35's "sync now" option. Zero. The wheel spins and spins and spins, both on the watch and the app. It's been working perfectly since I got it in May. Today, my first 10k, of all days it decides to crap out. Any ideas about how to get these two to talk again?

Thanks for that link; I'll plug the 35 up tomorrow and run through the steps.

  • BTW, if you do not frequently clean up the folder //GARMIN/Actvity on the watch, it might got overfilled by the last 10k Activity, and it resulted in a corrupted FIT file, which can than easily block the communication. So fixing that would be my first step - back up, and clean up the folder. Try importing the last activity to Garmin Connect Web manually, to see whether it triggers any errors, or not.

Trux, I don't know which of the items in the troubleshooting guide worked, but the app and the 35 *finally!* are back talking to each other. Thank you very much.

Never mind, they're not talking again. The app and 35 synchronized once and now the circle is spinning again. It's not the version; the watch version matches the latest version. The sync audit shows no errors. The .FIT files are fine; they uploaded with no errors. I deleted some old files, so I don't think it's space. I removed and then re-paired the device. It took a couple of tries, but I finally got the code on the watch, and once I put it in to the app, all the data came back. After that, they don't talk any more. I'm about to turn everything off but really wanted that to be the last resort. The phone's Bluetooth recognizes the watch as a paired device and the settings are okay. I'm getting cross-eyed with this; it was working fine up to yesterday. *sigh*

...and it's back. Just about everything is back to normal now. Thanks again for your help.
