I need to reset my steps for the day.

Greetings everyone I have a little problem with Garmin connect and I'm hoping people out here can help me or Garmin itself can help me. this morning at midnight my Garmin connect for Android suffered some kind of a meltdown and kept closing on me. eventually I had to uninstall the software unpair my watch and reinstall everything from scratch however there's a problem. while the app is stable now I noticed that at 12:00 midnight it says I have 8,624 steps. That's the total number of steps I had yesterday but for some reason it's counting them again today! while this is lovely for earning that Halloween walk badge I did not earn these steps they are duplicates from yesterday!! I don't know what happened but I was hoping the steps would reset while I slept but they did not. I really don't care about the steps but what I do care about is The fact this adds sctive calories to my calorie counter which is the whole purpose of this watch in the first place to help me lose weight. I searched for almost an hour looking for a way to reset my steps to zero but I could not find any.

so my question is is there any way to reset my steps back to zero for a single day?

Sudo fix:

since I have my Garmin connect paired with myfitnesspal I inputed an empty calorie entry into myfitnesspal equal to the amount of steps the Garmin connect is giving me so that it kind of resets to zero. but it still shows over 8,000 steps that I did not earn while this works for my purpose there really should be a way to reset steps back to zero in case the watch malfunctions and starts counting steps or for any other reason like a bug is there any way to reset steps back to zero?

I do not know what watch model you own, but on watches with a heart rate monitor Calories are not derived from the number of steps. They are calculated on the basis of the HR (and the HR Variability). So even if you managed to reset the steps, it would have no imact on the Calories. There might be perhaps a problem of time zones or the date - make sure the watch is synchronized with GPS (assuming your model has GPS) and hence has the right time and TZ settings, and also check the TZ settings (especially the Upload TZ parameter) in the User Settings in Garmin Connect Web.

Otherwise the steps are not editable, and there is no way to reset them in GC, once they were synced. The only way is contacting the Support and asking them to do it for you.

well I don't know what it did but it considered all of my activity yesterday on my watch today I went ahead and I set my watch to set the time by the GPS feature on the watch so hopefully that will correct the problem I'll know more tonight at midnight.

oh by the way it's a Garmin Vivoactive4

so I guess my question is better phrased at is there a way to reset all of my activity to zero for a given day?

Yes, you can delete any recorded Activities, but as I wrote, it you want to delete data like steps or HR, the only way is contacting the Support and asking them to do it for you.
