Constant location access on Pixel 5

On my Pixel 5 Garmin Connect is running in the background and getting the phone's location at all times. I can understand doing this on an hourly basis for weather etc, but this is 24/7.

Is it meant to do this? Are you absolutely sure about the integrity of the software following the recent hack? Given that passwords are saved in plain text I'm wondering if a bad actor has slipped something dodgy into the codebase.

The only thing I’ve seen is the location icon on my phone is always lit up because of the connect app. Just wanted to mention that I’m having the same issue. I’m not referring to the hack or password stuff.

BTW, you can simply disable the location permission for the GCM app, and when the first notification about the missing permission comes, just slide down the notification bar, then swipe away the notification (to the side), and you won't get it anymore.
