Unable to sync activities from my Edge 810 through Garmin Connect

Since a few days activities recorded with my Edge 810 cannot be synchronized through Garmin Connect anymore. The Edge is connected to my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S6), but the sync fails. In GC logs (Parameters > Sync. Audit) I can see the following error:

Time Sync Status = FAILED (Timed out waiting for response)

My phone says GC has just been updated three days ago. I tried to restart both devices, unpair them, delete old activites stored in the Edge, etc. but nothing resolved the problem.

Any idea ? Is it just a regression bug on the app ? Is there anything I can do ?

  • Not sure if this is just these activities are corrupt or if there is a problem with the app and/or syncing issues. If you have a Windows computer (different process for Mac), connect your 810 to the Garmin USB cable and your computer. In file explorer the mapped drive will typically be "D:\GARMIN." Your activities should be in the folder "D:\GARMIN\ACTIVITY." Look for the problematic .fit file. You should be able to locate the file based on the date. Then drag and drop the file onto this page - Import Data

    After upload is attempted you should see the message We don't support the file type you tried to import, Import Complete, or it will just timeout.

    If there is a problem, zip the fit file then attach it to this thread. We might be able to see what is going on. Also, if you have a lot of files in the \Garmin\Activity folder, consider backing that up then removing the contents of that folder.

    Sometimes just power-cycling your device and phone and/or syncing with Garmin Express on your PC or Mac will fix it. Otherwise you can try the more extensive list of troubleshooting steps here: Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide

    I think sync problem with edge 810 users. Problem in app?

  • The app is working for me and most users. Have you followed all the steps in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide? This attempts to cover all possible reasons of failing synchronization.

  • Fred, did the problem start a few days ago as well ? On my side it still worked fluessly wednesday, but not friday.

  • The files were fine as I was able to upload them on GC website without any issue. I still have to try with Garmin Express as I mainly use Linux.
