No call notification on Garmin Fenix 6 Pro

When I get a call to my Samsung S10 I don't get the possibility to answer/reject the call on my watch. If the call is missed - then I get a notification on the watch.

Other notifications work fine, like SMS/WhatsApp etc. and they are just about instant.

Is there any trick to make the call notification work as it should? I have already tried disabling battery optimization for Garmin Connect app.

  • Don't you use some spam filtering app, such as TrueCaller or similar? They tend to filter out the call notifications, or suppress the caller number, so that the reply is then not possible.

  • No, I use Google Dialer. I discovered that if I open the Garmin Connect app on the phone and make a call, it almost immediately pops up on the watch. I had already removed Garmin Connect app from battery optimization.. so I don't think there is anything more I can do on that front.

  • There are diverse options, depending on the phone OS version and brand, that can cause apps not working correctly in the background. The battery optimizing is one of them, but there may be others. Some of them are listed for example in the thread Notifications or in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide

  • Well, Samsung S10 with Android 10 must be one of the most used phones/os'es. The thread for notifications is clearly not right for this issue.. since it works if the app is opened / has recently been used. Also, I have never had any connection issues.

    I think it's the app just needs to be fixed to be faster to get the notification to the watch when there is an incoming call.

  • I do not thnik so. The symptoms you describe, give the impression the app is blocked when in the background, or when the phone is locked. If you think you know better and prefer waiting that someone will fix it, instead of trying to find the culprit, I am afraid you will not have the notifications any soon.

  • Message notifications are just about instant. So it's just incoming call notifications that Garmin Connect has issues with.

    This is a user forum, Garmin won't hear you here. You need to contact the Support, if you ask their attention.

    Still, I suspect it is rather a problem of the phone, since it works fine for others (inclusive myself with another Samsung model and Android 10). You may want to check for example the last post on the following link, or google up the term "slow android call notifications"
