Garmin Fenix 5 constant pairing request

The issue

I have been having one issue ever since I fully discharged / charged my Fenix 5. 

I get constant pairing requests with a number come on the watch and then it says failed. This is presumably the watch trying to connect with my phone. The issue is that the attempts to try and reconnect lights up the watch at night and I have to de pair the phgone 

Spec

- Garmin fenix 5 20.00 (cfa4270) 

- Samsung S10 G970FXXU8DTH7 

- Garmin connect 4.35.1

Troubleshooting 

- Switched both off and then on 

- removed device from Garmin connect and then reconnect 

- Removed app and re installed 

Workaround

Only connect the watch next to the phone when data is available and then disconnect (not a workable solution).

  • Take a look at this video, following the steps, especially that when unpairing remove from Connect and also "forget" the device in android BT settings, then restart the phone and the watch. Then pair your watch using only the Connect app, not with android BT settings.

    here is a pairing problem with the phone and needs to be completely redone. Follow these steps and video:

    • Remove your Garmin device from the Garmin Connect App (Menu >> Garmin devices).
    • "Unpair" all Garmin devices in android Bluetooth settings. Settings >> Bluetooth >> Unpair
    • Do the same for any other nearby mobile devices that might have Garmin in its Bluetooth settings. A common issue for users that have a new phone or other mobile devices also paired to the same Garmin device.
    • Unpair from the app. Settings >> Apps >> Show System Apps >> Bluetooth >> Storage >> Clear Data
    • Reboot your phone, restart your Garmin.
    • On your Garmin device place into "pairing mode." Differs per device, but usually in Settings > Phone > Pair Phone to manually enter pairing mode.
    • Pair using Garmin Connect Mobile app

    Ok it sorted it for a few days and then went back yo original state of constant pairing request. What do I do next please?
