My vo2 does not update, why?

  • Have a look at the section "WHY AM I NOT GETTING AN UPDATED VO2 MAX ESTIMATE READING FOR MY RECORDED ACTIVITY?" of the document What is the VO2 Max. Estimate Feature on My Garmin Device?

    Same problem here

  • The document did not help clearing why there was no update? Did your activity meet all the necessary conditions for the VO₂max measurment? You can perhpas share it as Weblink here, so that we can try to find out why it did not work with it.

My VO2 max stopped updating on Oct 6 - as well. I tried a few of the things suggested- no update. Did you find something that worked?

Still the same answer - share a link to one of the activities where you believe the VO₂max value should have updated, so that we can try finding out what's wrong with it.

My Vo2 hasnt updated since Xmas  day  I've gone on long numerous walks since then. But it hasn't updated

  • I've gone on long numerous walks since then.

If you read the document linked in my first post it shows the following conditions for VO₂max estimates at walking:

    • Walking Activity must be 10 minutes or longer in length (* vivosport requires up to 15 minutes in length)
    • The activity must be recorded outdoors with a GPS signal
    • Heart rate data from either a built-in optical heart rate sensor or from a chest strap
    • Heart rate must be elevated to at least 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes continuously (* vivosport requires up to 15 minutes continuously)

Especially note the last condition - verify what your max HR is, and then check out the HR graph of the Walk activity to see whether there were at least 10 consecutive continuous minutes with the HR above 70% of the max HR.

For example if your max HR is 180 bpm, then you have to walk for at least 10 minutes with the HR above 126 bpm all the time

  • then you have to walk for at least 10 minutes with the HR above 126 bpm all the time

That's some power walk alright! Slight smile

  • That's some power walk alright

Exactly! You have to start entering the lactate threshold levels, if you want that the VO₂max can be measured. That's also why it may be easier getting your VO₂max while biking, or running.
