Heart Rate Monitor not functioning

My Garmin Vivoactive 3 has stopped recording my heart rate, and the green light is no longer on. What could be the problem, and how do fix the issue? Everything else is working fine.
Either the HR is disbaled in the settings, or the watch is perhaps in the power-saving mode disabling it automatically (though I am not sure whether Vivoactive 3 has such a mode), or the device is defectuous. For the first two cases - check out the settings of the watch (and the documentation if necessary), for the last case contact the reseller or Garmin for the replacement.
