Red exclamation mark against device

This has been asked before, but I don’t think there has been an answer. Just recently there is a red exclamation mark next the my device (Forerunner 735XT) when I try to sync the device, I get a notification that it has failed. On the home screen, however, it seems to sync ok.

  • On the home screen, however, it seems to sync ok.

Why do you think so? There are actually two levels of the sync:

    1. Garmin device » Garmin Connect Mobile App (typially over Bluetooth)
    2. Garmin Connect Mobile App » Garmin Connect server database (typically over Mobile Data or WiFi)

So even if the app may display the current data, it does not mean it was synced to the server (GC database). You best verify it by viewing the data on Garmin Connect Web. Only if all data is there too, then it means it was transferred to the server all right.

  • Yes it’s updated on the server, so it looks like it’s just a glitch in the app.

  • When that happens to me it's usually because there were settings such as revised heart rate zones or weight changes that sync from the web to the device that don't make it through.

I find Express provides more information about what needs to be synced.

  • Same thing here. Believe I started to see the red exclamation mark and no sync under devices on firmware update to 11.10 on my Fenix 6X. On the home screen of the Garmin mobile app, it syncs just fine and therefore not a big problem but still frustrating.

  • I agree, it’s more a frustrating issue than anything else, as it’s seems it’s just the app which is the issue. Just wish Garmin would address it and get it sorted.

  • Another more important issue has hit me recently (although outside this thread) is that I cannot sync Spotify playlists anymore..... !
