  • There are several possibilities. First of all you need a watch actually supporting the VO₂Max feature. An then, some other conditions must be met. Read the following articles to see the details:

I meet all the things listed in the suggested answer but the app has not updated. it was updating regu6before garmin has problems a few weeks ago

  • In that case contact the Support and ask them to investigate it

  • My VO2 MAX is not updating after 25july. I own viv@ music watch

  • Have you considered that you may have just hit your personal cap, that you're just plateauing?  VO2 doesn't automatically increase if you do more stuff.  You have to do stuff that causes your body to increase the amount of oxygen in your blood. And as the numbers go up, it gets even harder to go up another number.

(Just what is your VO2 max?)

One way to test it is to stop exercising for a month.  Not just stop using your watch; just sit on the couch and binge watch television.  (Eating to much will also help during this time.)

After you've gained ten pounds, go out running a couple times.  Your V02 max should change.  If not, then there's something wrong with your watch.

  • I read the above link. It shouldn't really be that hard to be able initiate a V02 Max reading.

Some people can't walk  fast enough to get to 70% of max heart rate.  It may even be dangerous for some.

I think the threshold should be lowered

Grazie mille, Antonella

Not sure why 70% of your max HR should be dangerous, but if you think it is, then you do not really need to know your VO₂max, because you will never use it. For the measuring of VO₂max you have to reach the lactate threshold, and for that you simply have to exercise rather intensively. If you are not willing or are not able to reach the lactate threshold, then forget about VO₂max. It would be a useless and a meaningless value anyway.

  • I'm not able to. I have severe Osteoarthritis in my hips and need a walker. I just can't walk that fast or that long. I also had a stint in ICU where I was intubated and lost all my mobility. Trying to get my fitness and mobility back and would have liked to be able to see my VO2 max.
