How do I (conveniently) show my hikes when viewing activites in Connect for Android?

I have a Garmin Fenix 5 plus which I use mainly for walking and cycling.

When I go out walking, I select the Hike activity on the watch and record the walk/hike. When I synchronise my watch with Connect, the activity shows up as "Highland Hike", presumably the Highland comes from my location data - I live in the highlands. A similar thing occurs when I cycle. I choose either "Bike" or "Bike Indoor" on the watch and, depending on which one I chose, it is recorded as either "Highlands cycling" or "Indoor cycling".

All is good so far.

The problem comes when I want to view my hikes. There is no Hike option from the Activities sub menu on Connect for Android. If I choose the "Walking" sub menu, my hike does not appear. The hike doesn't appear from the Running sub menu either.

The problem does not occur with my cycles - I just select "Cycling" from the Activities sub menu and both outdoor and indoor cycles appear.

The only way I am able to view my hikes is to select "All Activites" and then scroll down until I find a hiking activity and then select "View All Hiking Activities". This seems a cumbersome way to do things and I cannot help feeling I am missing something obvious.

Is there a way to add "Hiking" to the Activities sub menu so that I can just view all my hikes in the same way I view all my cycles?

Many thanks

I have discovered the same issue with viewing Hiking activities. I've had to convert my hikes to walking so that I can view them.

  • Hi,

Is there any solution to this problem?

  • Not that I am aware of. My obsession with my stats has alleviated somewhat since I posted it so it is possible that they have taken note and improved the interface. However, since you are asking, I assume they haven't.

  • Unfortunately Garmin repeatedly shows their disinterest in 'Hiking' activities.

They don't count against walking challenges, and there are very rarely equivalent hiking challenges.  The weekly/monthly/etc emails break out walking and running activities, but never show anything for hiking. And as you've discovered, even the Connect app has no way to view them other than showing All Activities (although the Connect website does give you the option).

  • Its 2023. And still not fixed. What a pity. I use my watch to view stats instead.

  • I have a fenix 7 pro, and I cant understand what the point of having all these activities on a watch if it does not sync to the app or web. Who is ever going to browse a watch to look at stats??

I have done countless hikes which do not upload or sync to the app, which is frustrating as the point of having a watch to track data is to be able to view the data.
