heart rate for totals have different values

Hi. I want to ask about my activity, I see the hearth rate at activity and heart rate for total today have different value, what happen, why that happen, can give me any suggest? I wear Garmin fenix 5x, I can show the screen shot if needed. Thank you

  • That's just beause the activity uses a finer sampling rate (up to 1s) than the daily data (2 minute averages). Hence the daily two minute averages filter out any max HR, unless it stays above the max value over the 2 minutes.

I didn't understand what u mean. I post the picture, same activity have diifferent heart rate

  • The first screenshot shows the Activity (1s HR sampling rate), while the second screenshot does not show any Activity, rather just the daily HR graph with 2 min HR averages (HR peaks shorter than 2 minutes are averaged / smoothed out).

Oh I understand, n which one should I hold on, or both? The real time n the whole day, thanks

In which sense? The values shown are not the recommended values you should hold on. It is just the data recorded during your Activity (resp. during the day), not any max you should not surpass. Generally the recommended max HR you should try not surpass can be calculated as 220-age, so for example 180 for 40 years old person. However, it may differ individually, so the best way to know it, is consulting your physician, or doing a lab test at a sport medicine specialist. And it is only the doctor, who can tell you whether it is safe for you to cross the max threshold and for how long.
