Steps not counted correctly

I have vivosmart 4 and it is not counting steps correctly. Basically double less then should. What to do? Really frustrating situation. Seems that instead of one arm swing 2 steps, it counts just 1. Really angry already as I just bought vivo 4 instead of 3, because I thought it is broken as not counting steps correctly just from one day.

  • Are you sure? If so, your situation is unique.

Garmin watches work a little differently than other brands. In order to try to avoid false positives, it only counts steps after you've walked 10 steps. So if you've been sitting and then walk 9 steps, you'll get 0 credit. However on the 11th step, you'll get credit for all 11.

In my experience, Garmin steps counted is about 10% less than Fitbit.

I walk every day in a row about 16 km and for second day it only counts about 9000 steps, although 16km is at least 25 500 steps. So yes somehow it's not counting steps basically at all.

Did not you push a cart, by hazard?

For 16 kilometers, are you crazy? Of course not. Just fast pace outdoor walking.

  • For 16 kilometers, are you crazy?

Well, my friend pushed his motorbike 50km, so why not pushing a cart 16km Smiley

Test the accuracy by counting your steps manually (or with a phone), and if the Vivosmart does not record similar number, have it replaced, or get another model.

Yes, seems so i need to replace as my phone got 28 000 steps, which is way more accurate. Really sad.

  • Actually, 28,000 steps seems very high. For most people the rule of thumb is 2,200 to 2,400 steps per mile. 16 KMs shouldn't be more than 24,000 steps.

Not really. My on step is around 55cm, so simple calculation gives quite similar or close enough number. Anyway still it means my vivosmart 4 is not counting the steps not even close to reality
