Interplay between Connect training plans, calendar, and Edge 1030 plus

Last Garmin I bought was an Edge 500 in 2014 so I'm very new to my newest, an Edge 1030 plus.

I set up a training plan on the Garmin Connect web site. I don't understand why it doesn't sync to my Edge 1030 "training plans" section OR show up in my Garmin Connect Android app "training" section.

What am I doing wrong?
