IWeekend Walking 3 - 5 mile challenge

I joined and completed the Weekend Walking 3 mile challenge 5- 7 June but have not received the 1 point. It just says that I am on the way to comlteing.

Try editing the 3 mile Walk activity from that weekend (i.e. add a Calorie) and saving it. Make usre it is of type Walk, and not Hike or anythng else.

Not sure how you edit a challenge on the mobile app.

Is the reason I didn't get the badge because it is a "walking" challenge tather than a "steps" challenge, and my activities are Steps?

The is no Steps Activity. Steps are recorded without starting any Activity at all. For the Weekend Walk you needed to register a Walk Activity.
