Sharing Photo with stats not working

Hi,

I recently got a Forerunner 245 and recorded a few runs so far.
I wanted to try the Share "photo with stats" feature. But it fails everytime.

I go to share->photo with stats-> select image from gallery -> crop -> select the stats-> selection screen for apps. No matter which app i select, be it instagram or even just a file explorer to save it locally, it does not work.

Total commander, a file explorer reports that it can't find the src file. I also tried to send the image to Google Keep Notes, where it only posted the hashtags #garmin #beatyesterday , but not the image itself.

So the problem seems to be that the image with stats is not available to be copied or sent to an app.

Garmin Connect has all permissions other than contacts, so there should not be a problem with that.

Phone is a Xiami Mi 9se, running a modified Android 10.

  • Works fine for me. I even tried removing the Contacts permissions like you, and it still works. You tell you use modified Android 10, so you could check whether you do not use any custom settings or extensions that could prevent the app to write to the storage (encryption, perhaps?), or that could confuse the path to the src file.

  • Thanks for the answer, with modified android I meant their "flavor" of android, like Samsung uses "One UI" instead of the stock android. I went through the settings and could not find anything obvious that should influence how Garmin Connect sends/stores the image.

  • I have the same problem. After update MIUI. I everything reinstall, without success... :-(

    I got the same problem.

Last time I successfully posted a photo with stats a week ago.

The phone is Mi9, MiUi Global 12.0.1 Stable

  • Same here! Using Mi9 SE with MIUI Global 11.0.6.0.

I never had an issue sharing photos but it stopped working suddenly. I have tried to delete the app data and reinstall the app. Noting helped. Sharing a link works fine. Only photos do not work.

  • By default the image file is being saved to the folder /Internal storage/Android/data/com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile/files/, so check out whether the folder exist, and whether there is sufficient space available on the internal storage.

You could also try configuring the app in Android system settings to use the SD card instead of the internal storage.

Otherwise, the best way to find out why the phone cannot save the file would be analyzing the logcat (a file where Android stores all error messages, warning, and/or debug data). It is easy if you have Android Studio installed on your computer. If you do not have, you can google the way how to read logcat on your phone model. Since all cases here seem to be related to Xiaomi, I found for example these instructions for that brand: https://c.mi.com/thread-1997473-1-0.html

  • Hello, folder exist, file created and exist, but not add to (for example) facebook. CatLog don't contain any errors...

  • But it's good for me, because I can share picture directly from folder /Internal storage/Android/data/com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile/files/... Don't good user experience, but works... Thanks.

The folder exists and files are created there but not shared further.

Of course I can share from this folder manually but it is not the solution I need.

By the way, Mi9 doesn't have SD card.

This is a result of CatLog.
