Garmin Connect is crashing on my phone.

Garmin Connect is crashing on my phone. (Android 6.0.1)   Broken since version 4.31 update.  Getting the message "Unfortunately, Connect has stopped". I've cleared the application cache and data files.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled.  Still not working.

  • I am having exactly the same issue and tried the same things, also on Android 6.0.1.  Has anyone found a fix for this ?  I've messaged Garmin but no response so far.

  • In a way, I'm pleased that I'm not the only one with the issue.  Slight smile  Hopefully Garmin will get back to you.

Same here ! Garmin when wil you start making better working updates ? Edge 820 SW is finally stabile, now the issues start with Connect ?

  • Same problem here, it stated mid-October, possibly due to an automatic update. I first noticed that my Edge 520 had stopped syncing... If I opened the Connect app and forced a sync, I'd get the error and Connect would crash.

I uninstalled/reinstalled the Android app, deleted data/cache in the app, removed and recreated all Bluetooth/device pairing... Now as soon as I add/pair the device for syncing, Connect gives me the error.

I've tried installed the App on another phone with another Android version (Samsung S6) and it runs fine. Same account same device.

My phone is a CAT S60 with Android 6.01 - Connect 4.36.3 - Given the previous comments, it sounds like Garmin has made its Connect app incompatible with Android 6.01.

    Garmin please fix this!

  • Using newer Android SDK's that are necessary for newer phones, can indeed break the compatibily with older systems. Consider instaling an older version of Garmin Connect from an APK archive. There are several inofficial APK archives available on the web (for example at apkssl.com or at apkmirror.com).

  • Thanks

I've just downloaded v4.35.1 dated 22 September 2020 (from apkmirror.com) - and it works again. It's the first time I've forced a version install like this so I don't know how it will be affected in future, when newer versions of the app are released (will mine be frozen or will it auto update?) Most important thing is finding the trigger of the problem and being able to rewind it. Thanks Thumbsup

Seems unreasonable to me, that Garmin would not test their software on earlier versions of Android before releasing it, that should have been trapped at the UAT stage. The stated compatibility is exactly the same between 4.35.1 and 4.36.3

Min: Android 6.0 (Marshmallow, API 23)
    Target: Android 10 (Q, API 29)

  • will mine be frozen or will it auto update?

You can block auto-updates on your phone, in the details of the app.

It may work on some phones, while not on others. There are so many variants of the OS, and so many hardware brands that it is not in the capacity of anyone to test all the possible combinations.

  • apk's from apkssl will not install on my phone. The one from apkmirror did. Reverted to 4.35 and all is good again.

  • Mine crashes and reboots on laps. Also, I have a Google Pixel 6. It started when it updated to Android 13
