Have a Fenix 6X is connected to Garmin Connect app and app shows live data but does not record it from day to day

I have a Fenix 6x sapphire and am using a Google Pixel 3Xl with the Android Garmin connect app.  The watch shows connected and you can sync it and it will show the "live" HR rate, number of steps for the day, current O2 rate, etc., but it will not save the data and record it to show in the details for yesterday, 7days ago, etc.,

I have uninstalled the app completely and re-installed it.  You can see the last 7 days data on the watch.  The data is being recorded on the watch, you can see it live on the Garmin Connect App but you can't see the historical data on the app other than what is there today.

I was having no issues and have had no issues until May 8th.   I have been able to record this data from my Garmin 520 plus and my previous watch Garmin 3HR, and have been getting this data on my Garmin 6X until May 8th. then it just stops.   The data is on my device but does not save onto my app.

Is this possibly due to a Garmin Connect app update?  There have been several over the days according to my phone log.

  • If the synchronisation really works, but the data is not appearing in your account, then it very probably means that your device is associated with multiple accounts. It frequently happens for example when you reinstall the application, and inadvertently sign up a new account instead of signing into the original one.

Follow the instructions from the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing to resolve the issue.

I have verified. This is not the issue.   I did have an old account.  Does not have this watch on it, (or any of my current devices)  and my app on my phone and my information are all logged into the same account.    The data for any data set (HR, steps, etc.), all shows up on the main screen in the app for what is currently happening, but when you click on it in the app for details it does not show what happened yesterday, 3 hours ago, anything other than the now is not showing.  The data is accessible from the watch however.  I can drill down into the data from the watch and see data on a much more simple screen on the watch its self.

I have not done anything other than update the version of the app and update the software version on the watch.  I am running version 9.0 on the watch.

I am running android 10 on the phone and the Connect version is build version 4.31

    Any other suggestions?

  • I have verified.

    How eactly?

    .

    Any other suggestions?

There may be three different reasons for what you are experiencing, but despite what you tell, from the symptoms you desribed, the strogest probability still remains that the device is associated with mutiple accounts, and sending the data to the other account.

    1. The synchronisation does not work (the white circle around the watch symbol never closes) - in that case follow the tips in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide

    2. Another reason in such case could be that one of the FIT files containing the activity or the monitoring data is corrupted. Have a look at the Device Sync Audit (GC Mobile app Menu » Settings » Device Sync Audit) for any error messages or reasons of the failed sync.

    3. When the synchronisation works (the white sync circle closes and turns green), but the data is not appearing in your account, then it almost certainly means that your device is associated with multiple accounts. In suh case use the instructions from the previously mentioned support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing to resolve it. Simple verifying that you use the same user name as previously won't help you move on.

  • "Vefified" means I re-opened my old previous account.  I have not logged into it in over a year.  The Garmin 6x is not associated with that account.  I then had Garmin delete the old account "completely".  It NO LONGER exists now.

I completely deleted the app from the phone and signed out of all Garmin accounts from anywhere and deleted all cache from all devices I own.

I opened the account from my computer and verified that my current devices are registered on my current account.

I then re-installed the Garmin apps, logging into the now only account I have.

The watch has synced and the app is again displaying the data happening at the moment but not recording it past then.

The data is on the watch - shows the last 7 day average etc., but nothing shows up on the app on my phone.

I have not yet wiped the watch completely and started it over, as I have everything as I like it and it connects to my phone etc., without any issues.  but I am about to try this as I don't know what else to do unless someone else has something to try.

Just feels like this maybe an app update gone wrong or something to me but that is just my thoughts, that's why I posted here.

  • The watch has synced and the app is again displaying the data happening at the moment but not recording it past then.

What does it exactly mean "not recording it past then"? When you start an activity, save it on the watch, sucessfully sync it with the phone, will the activity appear on the phone app? And will it appear on Garmin Connect Web? Could you post the link to your GC Web Profile? (click your avatar at the top right, then copy & paste the URL address here)

  • No the activity would not sync.  The historical data of HR rate, steps, O2, etc., would not sync,  The watch would sync, you could see whatever the current information was (I.e current heart rate at that very moment) would show but no data from the previous days, hours, activities, etc.,  The sync process was incomplete basically.

I wiped the watch clean and reconnected it to the phone / app.   Everything works fine now.
