Forerunner 45s dodgy bluetooth connection

This is the 2nd time my new Forerunner 45s has lost bluetooth connection after a run ..last time I managed to retrieve the run but not the steps, which are important to me.  I never had a problem with my old Vivosmart. I've lost so many steps since having this 45s. What can be done to fix it?

  • The Blouetooth connection does not really have any relation to the data storage on the watch. The activity data, as well as Steps data is stored on the watch, regardless whether the watch is connected to the phone or not. In other words, you do not even need the phone at all with you, and the watch will still record both the activity, and the steps.

Did the step number disappeared from your watch (have a look at the Steps widget, and press enter to see the values of the past few days), or just it was not synced correctly to the Garmin Connect account?

The steps seem to be showing in the history but not on my phone.

  • So try syncing the watch again. If you get problems establishing the Bluetooth connection (no green dot at the device icon at the top of the app), check out the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide or try syncing over the USB cable to Garmin Express on a computer.

If syncing works all right (the white sync circle at the top of the app turns green), then the most likely reason is that your wath is assoiated with more than one account. It frequently happens for example when you reinstall the application, and inadvertently sign up a new account instead of signing into the original one.

Follow the instructions from the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing to resolve the issue.
