Walking - steps on watch Vs Garmin Connect

Is it possible for a walking activity to show steps within Garmin Connect stats? The steps for the duration of the activity are available on the watch during tracking and also under last activity (Vivoactive 3). Seems odd they don't show in the Garmin Connect data if they're being recorded, do I need to enable something?

  • Some Garmin Connect IQ apps add the step counts to Activity stats. Have a look for example at the activity stats shown below, they include also the steps and other additional fields. The user seems to have installed the app Dozen Run, but there are certainly others doing similar thing too. Check out the IQ store for apps compatible with your device.

  • I use "Simple Steps" to show my total steps for the day during an activity and "Steps to Fit" to have the steps directly associated with the activity and written to the database. Then they will show in the app and web Connect. These are data fields and must be added to the activity screen(s) for them to work.
