Do I have to use the Lap Button in Garmin Coach?

New to Garmin Coach and selected a training plan.  On the next workout it schedules:

10 min warm up

Lap Button Press

6 x Run then jog

10 min cool down

Never used the lap button before so looked up the guidance for my vívoactive 3.  It's clear I have to set up manual laps during the activity, rather than before I start it, but it's too difficult to do without glasses, which I don't wear when running.

I can't find out how the training plan will be affected by my ignoring this step.  Any ideas?

  • True , I never understood the phrase .. so just ran .. and the session stopped

  • Lyonnesse- did you ever figure this out? I'm using Garmin Coach with my Garmin Instinct and don't know if I should be pushing the lap button between run and jog or after the warm up.

  • Was a while ago , but using the garmin 7x now , and you just go for it , and it picks automatically. Will try again .. just to refresh my memory

  • Check the steps in the workout before you start it so you know what to do. If one step is until "Lap button press" then you must press the lap button to continue from that step. You can view the workout in the watch before you start it.

In the main post there is first 10 minutes of warm up. After 10 minutes it will automatically progress to the next step. That step will not progress to the next without a lap button press. That is because you might want to do a longer warm up (or something else like a walk rest..) before the real session starts which is "6 x Run then jog".

You can always use the lap button during any step to continue to the next even if it says you should do a warm up for 10 minutes.
